Lt. Gov. Jon Husted rolled out DataOhio, fulfilling Gov. Mike DeWine’s campaign pledge to provide open, secure access to data to the public, media and policy makers. The technology platform, found at data.ohio.gov, will display datasets, facilitate records requests, and deliver secured data.
The DataOhio site provides access to 213 datasets covering 71 different programs. Most of the available data comes from four state agencies; Health, Higher Education, Rehabilitation & Corrections and Youth Service, however they are not the only agencies with datasets available. The platform will continue to grow as additional state agencies are fully integrated.
Current data available includes:
- State’s Interactive Checkbook – this includes information from both the State Treasurer’s office and the Office of Budget and Management and provides insight into both the revenue and expenditures of state agencies, boards and commissions, local governments, schools and the state’s public pension funds.
- Ohio Labor Market Information – data from both the U.S. Department of Labor and the Department of Jobs and Family Services are used to provide users with the ability to view information such as current and historical labor and wage statistics, current employment statistics by industry sector and unemployment rates broken down by county.
- ODOT’s Transportation Information Mapping System – this web-based system provides information on projects, web mapping that can show traffic counts, priority snow routes, and geo-spatial transportation performance data.
- Ohio Highway Patrol’s Ohio Statistics & Analytics for Traffic Safety – data on accidents can be viewed using a variety of filters including county, year and reporting entity. The public and professionals can look at accident counts, points or density as they analyze and develop safety programs in the state.
Additionally, dashboards and data covering WIC/SNAP/TANF enrollment, drug overdose reduction efforts and the State’s COVID-19 response are also available. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact any of the listed professionals.
